Hospitality is a different brief from retail. You are not selling a product — you are furnishing a room that has to look identical every time a guest checks in, survive industrial laundry, and still photograph well for booking platforms.
Why a specification matters more than a design
For a home, you pick a cushion that looks good. For a hotel, you need every cushion in every room to be the same — same dimensions, same fill, same fabric weight, same colour. Guests notice when the pillows vary, and so do your cleaning staff.
Write a spec sheet once and we produce to it. That sheet should state:
- Finished dimensions, including depth
- Fabric type and minimum weight (we recommend 200 g/m² or heavier for commercial use)
- Filling type and weight
- Construction: piped edge, boxed edge, hidden zip, or envelope closure
- Label or tag specification
- Care requirements and wash temperature
Fabric that survives industrial laundry
Commercial washing is hot, frequent and chemically aggressive. Pure cotton shrinks and goes soft; silk and viscose are not viable.
| Best | Polyester and cotton-polyester blends — durable, colour-fast, dimensionally stable |
| Acceptable | Heavy cotton twill for covers that are rarely washed, or for dry-clean-only protocols |
| Avoid | Velvet and flocked fabrics, silk, anything with a coating or foil print |
Where you wash at 60 °C or above, we recommend a pre-shrunk fabric and a tested colour-fastness standard. Ask for a washed sample — it will show you exactly what survives.
Fill that does not flatten
Guests compress a cushion every night. Memory foam and down will feel tired by month three. For hospitality, polyester fibre fill with a boxed construction gives the best combination of support, loft recovery and washability.
For a firmer lumbar cushion in a desk or reading chair, a layered construction with a firmer core works better than a uniformly soft fill.
Private label and room identification
- Woven labels for a premium look — your property name or brand, sewn into the seam.
- Printed tags with fabric content and care instructions, which many Western buyers are legally required to include.
- Room-number labels for large properties — every cushion matched to a room saves deployment time and prevents mismatches during turnover.
Packaging for a smooth deployment
Vacuum compression is the standard for hospitality: it cuts freight and storage costs dramatically and every cushion expands to full loft within a day of opening. The practical point is planning for the recovery time — if you need a room furnished this afternoon, send them two days ahead or plan for a day of recovery after arrival.
For a soft launch, vacuum-compressed cushions let you furnish a property in stages without storage problems.
MOQ and how to start
We start at 10 pieces, but hospitality volumes run higher. A practical route: order one room’s worth first — say 6 to 8 pieces in each of your two or three designs. Live with them for a month, check wash performance and guest feedback, then place the full order with confidence.
Leave 3–5% spare in every run. Nothing else will save you when a cushion is damaged in a guest’s room.
